MSc thesis · Public transit boat interior designed through user research and full-scale prototyping

Overview
Developed a versatile passenger compartment for the Cstrider public transit boat concept (max 12 passengers).
Goal: comfort, utility and accessibility for passengers with widely varying needs.
Research included an explorative co-creation study (CARE method), followed by multiple studies in a 1:1 mockup.
Highlights
- CARE co-creation study with tape-marked floor plan and proportional miniature model to spark discussion.
- Built a 1:1 scale mockup with mobile seating modules (repurposed bus seats) to test layouts.
- Ran three studies including a max-capacity simulation with 12 participants; additional studies with a disabled child’s family and preschool children.
- Final layout optimized for comfort, accessibility and views; included bicycle racks and flexible seating.
